Trade Snow for Cold?

Temps will begin to warm today & be in the 60's tomorrow thru Sunday.

Looking for a change in the pattern next week. Several storms are going to be coming in to the Pac NW but look to stay to our North as a weak ridge is in place of CA. It looks as if the area of high pressure causing the ridge may retrograde towards Halloween weekend allowing a storm or two to come far enough South to bring us some snow.

A new feature in the last 24 hours is a possible shot of cold air coming down to our East over the Western half of the country next Tuesday. This may be plenty close enough to Tahoe to bring some cold air down from Canada. The importance of this cold air shot is that Northstar will be ready to start making snow by middle of next week & this cold shot may be just what they need to get the guns going! I've been watching the possibility of another cold shot the first week of Nov.

I want to keep this map that shows the 3-month precip forecast that the National Weather Service (NWS) put out on 10/15. I also wanted to show you what Accuweather.com is projecting. A more accurate update of these winter forecasts will be out in Nov. once there is a better idea of what is happening with El Nino & the PDO.
