Northstar picked up 33 more inches in the past 24 hours as of 6 a.m. and the snow continues to fall this afternoon. That brings the total for the week up to 5 feet now up top.
An area of low pressure is spinning over CA to the South of Tahoe as of Saturday afternoon. It is moving slowly and sending moisture Northward into the Tahoe basin. Snow showers will continue Saturday night and then through the day on Sunday as the trough moves through.
We could see another 2-4 inches at the base and 3-6 inches up top by Sunday morning and then the same during the day on Sunday. That means we could add up to a foot of new snow on top of the 5 feet that has already fallen this week.
The rest of next week the weather will stay unsettled with clouds and some wind as storm move in just to our North. It looks like the snow will stay to the North at least until the end of the week with the ridge off the coast. Next weekend a trough digging down the coast may push inland bringing colder air and the chance for more snow. stay tuned...BA
