We have had couple of nice days after the big snows last week but cooler weather will return with a cold front Thursday. That cold front will weaken as it approaches us tonight and we will be lucky to get a shower or two into Thursday. At most we could see a dusting on the mountain.
The next trough will dig down off the coast by Friday and the low will spin off the coast slowly pushing inland. The models are still struggling with the timing of the precip making it into the Tahoe basin. Eventually the front will push through by Sunday into Monday bringing snow.
It looks like as the core of the low comes through Sunday night into Monday it may come through just to our South which would keep the snowfall light. Right now snowfall amounts look to be around 3-6 inches Sunday into Monday at the base with 6-9 inches up top. Temperatures will be much colder with highs only in the 30's on the mountains.
The next system will by diving in by next Wednesday and may stay mostly to our North with just some light snow. Some of the models suggest the storm doest come far enough South to get a moderate storm with amounts in the 6-12 inch range.
We could see another moderate sized snow the weekend of the 31st. After that the ridge may start to build in off the coast bringing drier conditions. BA
